Brittney Yvette Griner is a professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury. She plays in the center position and is considered the defensive anchor for her team. She was drafted 1st overall in the 2013 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury and has been with them her whole career.

Griner is a 10-time WNBA All-Star and won a WNBA Championship in 2014. She is a two-time scoring champion, first in 2017 and the other in 2019. She called the detention “Gut-Wrenching”, pleading with President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris, to do “whatever necessary” to free Griner from prison.
