Caitlin Clark finished fourth in the 2024 WNBA voting ballot. The Indiana Fever rookie fell behind A'ja Wilson, who won with a unanimous vote, second-placed Napheesa Collier and 2023 MVP Breanna Stewart. Naturally, Wilson bagged all the first-place votes after an impeccable run this season.
That left the second-place vote distribution open. However, all but one went in Collier's favor, while Stewart bagged the only one pending second-place vote. The Liberty star dominated the third-place votes with 52 of 67 in her favor.
Clark received six third-place, 26 fourth-place and 22 fifth-place votes, tallying 130 points, falling short of Collier's 467 and Stewart's 295-point tally. The Fever star didn't receive any votes from 13 voters.
Fans were outraged after seeing Caitlin Clark finish fourth, believing she deserved better after her remarkable efforts didn't just bring the Fever to prominence but the league, too. One fan labeled some voters 'cowards' for not voting Clark high enough, saying:
"4th? Bunch of liars and cowards had votes."
Another ranted that the 13 voters who snubbed Clark shouldn't be on the panel.
"I’m in disbelief that existed 13 ballots without her name on it," the fan wrote. "These people are so biased, they shouldn’t have the power to make decisions about these awards."
"4th seems low considering her contributions," one fan wrote.
"CC22 had better numbers than many MVP so next year a lock , WNBA could burn this run by hating the white girl," added another.
"Probably deserved a majority of 2nd place votes," one fan said. "The 2nd half of the year, fever showed the largest turn around in being competitive among the top teams. That all was helped by the improvement in CC assists and scoring efficiency. Her total points scored and assisted lead the league."
"Should have been third behind Collier and Wilson," another tweeted. "Anything else is agenda driven or factoring team record into an individual award. She was by every statistical measure the 2nd or 3rd best player this year."
