The Chicago Sky will take on the Connecticut Sun for the third time this season on Friday. Chicago, which lost 83-75 in the last meeting between the two teams, hopes to break through against the Sun. Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso and Chennedy Carter will lead the Sky.

Meanwhile, Connecticut looks to stay unbeaten against Chicago behind Alyssa Thomas, DeWanna Bonner, DiJonai Carrington and Brionna Jones. Marina Mabrey will face her former team since she asked to be traded last month.

The Sky and the Sun are going all-out for a victory as they continue to jockey for playoff positioning. Chicago is desperately hanging to the eighth and final postseason spot, so a win is crucial. Connecticut can have a stranglehold of the second seed with another victory.

Chicago Sky vs. Connecticut Sun: Game preview

Angel Reese and Co. have to be better at shooting the ball to have a chance of beating the Sun. Chicago is making 30.1% from deep, the second-worst mark in the WNBA. The Sky shoots 42.3% overall, the third-worst figure in the league.

Since action resumed after the month-long Olympic break, the Sky offense has been inept. They are 1-2 during that stretch, only winning 90-86 against the injury-plagued LA Sparks. In those two losses, they were beaten by an average of 19.5 points.

The Chicago Sky will be in big trouble again if their offense stutters.

Meanwhile, the Connecticut Sun isn’t an elite shooting team. They are a middle-of-the-pack unit when it comes to field goal efficiency. The Sun, though, often makes up for their so-so shooting with perhaps the best defense in the WNBA.

Connecticut’s 94.2 defensive rating is second in the league, just a tad behind the Minnesota Lynx (94.1). The Sun can cause Chicago’s anemic offense even more trouble on Friday.

Chicago Sky vs. Connecticut Sun: Prediction

The Sun is simply the better team than the Sky on both ends of the floor. Moreover, the hosts look like a bad matchup for the Sky because of their elite defense. Connecticut will likely go 3-0 in the season series against Chicago.
