The Minnesota Lynx will be hoping to avoid a potentially massive banana skin when they face the Connecticut Sun in Game 2 of their best-of-five WNBA semifinal series on Tuesday at Target Center.
The Lynx were one of the favourites, but a surprising defeat in the opener has raised doubts over their chances of winning a fifth WNBA title. Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve will be hoping that her team took many lessons and will feel that they can't put in a worse performance than their last outing.
The Lynx made just four of 18 shots and were outscored 16-8 in the fourth quarter on Sunday. Although they played good defense, they couldn't score enough points to win. They also had difficulty containing Alyssa Thomas and Marina Mabrey, who both played well for the Sun. So, they will need to improve massively on that abysmal showing if they are to get anything on Tuesday.
In the other camp, Stephanie White will be hoping that her Sun can hold on to a win to take the series back home and finish the job. The Sun effectively held Napheesa Collier in check to 19 points on 43.8% shooting, a huge achievement for the visitors, considering Collier averaged 40 points per game in the first-round series.
With both sides seeking a positive result, this promises to be another closely contested game.

Connecticut Sun starting lineup and depth chart
The Sun will be without veteran guard Tiffany Mitchell, who is still recovering from illness. In addition, Tyasha Harris is listed as doubtful with an ankle injury and may not play against the Lynx.
The Sun’s a notably physical side, built in the mold of Stephanie White’s defensively-minded image. It will likely maintain the same starting five of Marina Mabrey, DeWanna Bonner, Alyssa Thomas, Brionna Jones and DiJonai Carrington, following their impressive performance in Game 1.

In the other camp, the Lynx may be without Cecilia Zandalasini, who is listed as probable with a quadriceps injury. Otherwise, Reeve has a full squad available and is expected to field the same starting five as she did on Sunday: Napheesa Collier, Bridget Carleton, Alanna Smith, Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams.
Connecticut Sun vs. Minnesota Lynx: One player to watch
Marina Mabrey
There was plenty of excitement when the Sun signed Marina Mabrey from the Chicago Sky in July. And that expectation hasn’t been in vain, as the veteran guard has slotted into the team brilliantly with good performances, as well as leading the team in points in the playoffs. Mabrey will be fundamental to ensuring the Sun fire on all cylinders, and she should have a thrilling performance.
