This matchup between East Coast rivals pits the league's first and second-place teams against each other in what is sure to be an exciting matchup.

The Connecticut Sun have had a strong start to the year and currently sit second overall in the WNBA standings with a 21-7 record. Connecticut Sun vs New York Liberty 2024 WNBA Regular Season: Preview

The Connecticut Sun has had an outstanding season so far. They will be hoping to gain some breathing room over third-place Minnesota Lynx with a win on Saturday.

The Sun is currently on a two-game win streak after defeating the Los Angeles Sparks and Chicago Sky. The team has won seven of their last 10 games.

All-Star DeWanna Bonner will be the key player to watch out for. The 6-foot-4 forward will need to be at her best if the Sun hopes to pull off an upset. She is currently leading the roster with 16.5 points per game.

Led by a potent offense, the Liberty have dominated their opponents over the first three-quarters of the season. The team is averaging an impressive 86.2 points per game and only the Las Vegas Aces are currently averaging more points (87.3).

Furthermore, the Liberty are riding an eight-game win streak and have not lost a game since a defeat to the Indiana Fever on July 6. Sandy Brondello's side has won 13 of their last 14 games and lost just one home game so far this season.

Sabrina Ionescu has been fantastic for the Liberty this season but missed the team's last game against the Dallas Wings due to a neck injury. The home fans will be hoping to see her out on the court for this highly anticipated contest.

Connecticut Sun vs New York Liberty 2024 WNBA Regular Season: Prediction

This should be a close game with both teams capable of putting points on the board. The Sun have only lost seven games this season but three of those losses have come against the Liberty.

Breanna Stewart has been in outstanding form for the Liberty this year and will be hard to contain. If Sabrina Ionescu plays as well, it will be difficult to imagine anything but a home victory for the Liberty.
