The Washington Mystics will be hoping to make home court count and stay in the hunt for the WNBA playoffs scene when they battle against the Connecticut Sun on Saturday. With both teams in high spirits and the Mystics especially in fine form, it will be intriguing to see how the game pans out.
Having seen off the Los Angeles Sparks, Seattle Storm and then Chicago Sky in the last three games, the Mystics know that eighth and last playoff spot is within touching distance.
But this game couldn't have really come at a worse time for the Mystics fans, as they haven't beaten the Sun in their last seven attempts. But they will believe that they can end that run on Saturday after the recent results.
The Sun, on the other hand, has already secured the playoff spot and is in fine form. They have won four of their last six games, including scalps of the New York Liberty and Chicago Sky.

The increasingly impressive Eric Thibault’s women won their third straight league game last time out, beating the Chicago Sky 74-70 on road. The Washington outfit are currently 2.5 games behind the Sky, who hold the eighth and final spot in the playoffs. Another win this weekend could put them on the verge of clinching that spot.
The trio of Ariel Atkins, Shakira Austin and Brittney Sykes has been in top-form at the moment, even if they haven't produced the consistency to match so far this season. They will be will be aiming to keep that run going and guide the team to victory once more.
Meanwhile, Sun’s coach Stephanie White will be hoping that her team took lessons from their last meeting with the Indiana Fever. The game ultimately ended in a 84-80 defeat for the Suns, but they will be encouraged by the first half performance.
And White will be keen to make sure her players go out and perform this weekend and the players will undoubtedly want to make amends and forget the poor showing.
Connecticut Sun vs Washington Mystics: Prediction
The Suns have nothing to lose, but if the Mystics can't win, then it's difficult to see them making the playoffs. The hosts might just have the momentum to win this game, which would certainly put pressure on those around them.
