Selected by the Minnesota Lynx with the 16th pick in the second round of the 2020 WNBA Draft, Dangerfield rose through the ranks and was awarded the WNBA Rookie of the Year in her first season in 2020.

Crystal Dangerfield High School

Crystal Dangerfield attended Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was the starting point guard for three of the four years and helped her team win two state championships in 2015 and 2016. Dangerfield’s outstanding performance on the floor saw her receive many achievements such as being awarded the Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year for three consecutive years. She was also selected as McDonald’s All-American and Jordan Brand Classic All-American in 2016. Her leadership and skills were pivotal in Blackman’s success, and she finished her high school career with impressive statistics: 2,186 points, 507 rebounds, 503 assists, and 362 steals.

Besides her achievements in high school, Dangerfield received awards on the national level. She was given the Morgan Wootten National Player of the Year in 2016, which placed her among the best high school players in the United States. Her high school experience laid the foundation for her college basketball at the University of Connecticut and she was able to progress and achieve more successes.
