The Dallas Wings and the Indiana Fever's third and final duel of the season on Sunday saw two young and exciting teams go at it. The Wings won the first duel in July and the Fever took revenge two weeks ago.
The game started with both teams exchanging buckets, but the Wings soon pulled away and took a 24-16 lead. They finished the first quarter up 34-26. Natasha Howard, Satou Sabally, Teaira McCowan and Arike Ogunbowale all scored eight points in the first quarter.
NaLyssa Smith and Aliyah Boston led the Fever with six and four points respectively while Caitlin Clark's shooting struggles continued, as she made just one of four field goal attempts.
The Indiana Fever showed signs of life in the second quarter. They edged it 31-25 behind Caitlin Clark's 11 points.
The two teams exchanged blows in the third and entered the final two minutes of the period tied at 78.
The Fever took a five-point lead (97-92) with 3:15 left on the clock and closed it out 110-109 after a couple of late-game free throws.
Aliyah Boston made her final two free-throw attempts to give her team a 110-106 lead. Satou Sabally drained a 3-pointer but it wasn't enough.
Arike Ogunbowale and Sabally scored 27 points each while Natasha Howard recorded a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds.
For the Fever, it was a two-player show between Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. Clark registered 35 points, two rebounds, eight assists and three steals. Mitchell added 30 points and one assist while Aliyah Boston contributed 15 points.
