She was named a McDonald’s All-American in her high school senior year. Evans attended the University of Louisville after completing high school and played four years for the Louisville Cardinals. During her college career, she played 135 games, scoring 1,715 points, grabbing 327 rebounds, and making 522 assists. She was a two-time ACC Player of the Year (2020, 2021) and was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2018.

Dana Evans was selected as the 13th overall pick by the Dallas Wings in the 2021 WNBA Draft. She was later traded to the Chicago Sky in the same season, where she won her first WNBA championship. She was named to the WNBA All-Rookie team and was a First-Team All-American by Associates Press in 2021. Evans represented her country at the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
