Diana Lorena Taurasi is a professional basketball player who plays for the Phoenix Mercury in the Women's National Basketball Association. Born on June 11, 1982, Taurasi is also known as "White Mamba" for her exceptional skills and competitive spirit on the court.

Taurasi's professional career began when the Phoenix Mercury selected her as the first overall pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft. This was after she had attended the University of Connecticut for college. She was outstanding in her rookie year where she was awarded the WNBA Rookie of the Year award. Moreover, Taurasi is also the leading scorer in the WNBA. With The Phoenix Mercury, Taurasi has won three WNBA Championships.

Diana Taurasi's college career began in 2000 when she joined the University of Connecticut (UConn) women's basketball team. She quickly made her mark, playing as both point guard and shooting guard.

She played four years for the University of Connecticut from which she led the team to three consecutive NCAA championships. Taurasi was outstanding in her college career averaging 15.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game in four seasons.

Taurasi's talent didn't go unnoticed, she received numerous awards, including the Naismith College Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004. She also won the Wade Trophy and Honda Sports Award in 2003 and was named Associated Press Player of the Year in the same year.

Her time at UConn was marked by consistent excellence. The team's record during her tenure was an astounding 139 wins and only 8 losses. This period cemented Taurasi's reputation as a game-changing player and set the stage for her professional career.
