Fox Sports host calls out Caitlin Clark's alleged mistreatment by players and coaches referencing viral Michael Phelps video

On Wednesday, Fox Sports host, Aaron Torres, referenced a viral Micheal Phelps video to call out Caitlin Clark's alleged mistreatment by WNBA players and coaches. Torres shared the video of Phelps cheering on for France's Leon Marchand who was breaking many of Phelps' Olympic records, and contrasted that to how some WNBA personalities allegedly mistreated Clark.

"Michael Phelps - watching the man, Leon Marchand - who is breaking most of his records. Interesting to compare this, to the reaction of how 99 percent of WNBA players and coaches have treated Caitlin Clark this year 🤔," Torres tweeted.

Compared to Michael Phelps' enthusiastic support for Leon Marchand, Torres insinuated that Caitlin Clark allegedly receives the opposite from various WNBA personalities. That may be highlighted by Clark's response to being asked about the best game advice she has received during a post-game interview in June.

"Nobody gives me advice in game," Clark said. "I wish."

Most recently, WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes undermined Clark's impact on the Indiana Fever while talking about her Rookie of the Year case in her podcast "Queens of the Court". Swoopes dismissed the Fever star rookie's impact on the team and cited Angel Reese to have done more with a lesser roster.

"I think Caitlin has done, I think, exactly what was expected of her with Indiana. The reason why they drafted her. What the expectations were, and I think she's done just that," Swoopes said.
"Is Indiana in the playoffs right now, without Caitlin?...When you look at the overall team, like the pieces that they have, without question, Indiana has better players than Chicago from top to bottom. No doubt about it," she added.

Even before the start of her WNBA career, Caitlin Clark has reportedly been on the receiving end of much-alleged resentment from members within the league. However, matters are starting to look up as the season approached the midway season with Clark shattering record after record.

Dawn Staley changes stance on Caitlin Clark's Olympic snub

In an interview with NBC Sports' Mike Tirico, USA Basketball selection committee member Dawn Staley switched stance over omitting Caitlin Clark for the women's Olympic roster after seeing Clark's performance in the WNBA two weeks before the All-Star break.

“Caitlin is just a rookie in the WNBA, wasn’t playing bad, but wasn’t playing like she’s playing now. If we had to do it all over again, the way that she’s playing, she would be in really high consideration of making the team because she is playing head and shoulders above a lot of people,” Staley said.

Despite the Olympic snub, Caitlin Clark continues to cheer for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The first overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft shared her excitement with reporters on Wednesday and said that she tries to watch as many games as she can.
