Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson is available to play on Saturday against the New York Liberty. Wilson is coming off an immaculate performance in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She led her team to a gold medal finish in the world's most prestigious international sports meet.
With the Olympics over, the WNBA season has picked up from where it had left off. The first game for the Aces since the break is a rematch of last season's WNBA Finals.
A'ja Wilson was in great form before the league went on an international break. She was averaging 27.2 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game and was also the season leader in points scored, rebounds collected and blocks made.
Fortunately, she carried over her amazing form to the Paris Olympics and helped her team beat France 67-66 in the finale to secure the gold medal.
A'ja Wilson vs the New York Liberty this season
This is the second time the two teams will face each other this season. In their previous matchup in June, New York emerged victorious, 90-82. Despite the loss, A'ja Wilson put up a great show, scoring 21 points, collecting nine rebounds and providing three assists.
Overall the New York Liberty are having a better season than the Aces. They have a 22-4 record and are coming off a 103-68 win in their last game against the Los Angeles Sparks.
Meanwhile, the Aces have a decent 16-8 record and will play their first game since the break. However, many squad members on the team like Wilson, Kelsey Plum, and Chelsea Gray are coming off a successful Olympics run.
Liberty star Breanna Stewart could pose a big problem for A'ja Wilson and the Aces. Stewart is having a great season, averaging 19.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
She was also one of the top performers for the USA in the Olympics. The Stewart-Wilson rivalry has been blooming for a while and will be on full display on Saturday.
