Angel Reese is available to play for the Chicago Sky as they host the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday to kick off the second half of the 2024 WNBA season. The upcoming game will be the first clash of the season between the two teams.
The Sky's star rookie will be coming off the Olympic break after she last played in the WNBA All-Star game on July 20. In the 18 minutes she played for Team WNBA, Reese recorded a double-double stat line of 12 points, 11 rebounds, one steal and one block while shooting 50.0% from the field.

Ahead of the start of the second half of the season, Angel Reese has been spectacular for the Chicago Sky, as she is averaging double-double stats of 13.5 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 40.2% from the field including 20.0% from beyond the arc. The seventh overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft was also named the Player of the Month for June.
Reese also broke the WNBA record for most consecutive double-doubles which was previously held by Candace Parker at 12. The Sky rookie extended it to 15 double-doubles before the streak snapped. She recorded a double-double in 17 of the 24 games she's played yet and has placed herself in a tight head-to-head running for Rookie of the Year honors alongside Caitlin Clark.
Angel Reese's best performance came against the Seattle Storm on July 6 when she recorded a double-double performance with her career-high 27 points along with 10 rebounds. She also recorded two assists and two steals in the game, as the Sky defeated the Storm 88-84.
Ahead of the upcoming matchup, the Chicago Sky are eighth in the league standings with a 10-14 record. They defeated the reigning WNBA champions Las Vegas Aces 93-85 ahead of the Olympic break to conclude the first half of their 2024 season.
