The 6-foot-6 center, Jonquel Jones was drafted as the sixth overall pick by the Los Angeles Spark in the 2016 WNBA Draft. However, her draft rights were traded to the Connecticut Sun. In her WNBA career, Jones has made five WNBA All-Star selections, five All-WNBA teams, (once first team and four times second team), and four-time WNBA All-Defensive teams (twice first team and twice second team). She also won multiple individual accolades such as WNBA Peak Performer (2017), three-time WNBA rebounding leader (2017, 19, and 21), and one-time WNBA Blocks Leader (2019).

After being traded to the New York Liberty in 2023, Jones won the WNBA Commissioner's Cup in her first season with the Liberty as well as the Commissioner’s Cup MVP. In the 2024 season, Jones’ partnership with Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu led the Liberty to the best record in the league. She averaged 14.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game during the 2024 WNBA season.

Jonquel Jones won the 2021 WNBA MVP award which was her first MVP in her career. Jones averaged 19.4 points, 11.22 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game in her MVP season, to go along with efficient 51.5% shooting from and a solid 36.2 from three-point territory. She recorded 18 double-doubles in the season which is fourth-most in the history of the WNBA.

Averaging a double-double throughout the season, Jones also became one of the few players to average 1+ steals and 1+ blocks per game, earning her spots in the All-Defensive first team and All-WNBA first team. During her MVP campaign, Jones won four Player of the Week awards and three Player of the Month (May, August, and September) awards.

Jonquel Jones is the only player in WNBA history to win the Most Improved Player award (2017), Sixth-Woman of the Year (2018), the Most Valuable Player award (2021), and the WNBA Finals MVP award (2024). In the 2024 WNBA finals, Jonquel Jones was also named the WNBA Finals MVP for her two-way contributions. In the 2024 WNBA finals, Jones averaged 17.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1 steal and 0.8 blocks.
