Kia Nurse is a professional basketball player in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) for the Los Angeles Sparks. She started playing basketball at the tender age of four and was playing competitively at the age of seven. Nurse attended St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School where she guided her team to three straight OFSAA high school titles. She later joined the college basketball team at the University of Connecticut where she was part of the team that won two consecutive NCAA championships in 2015 and 2016. Nurse’s professional career started when she was selected 10th overall by the New York Liberty in the 2018 WNBA draft.

Nurse averaged 5.9 points, 1.3 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game in the 2023 WNBA season, playing in all 40 games and starting in all of them. Her career high-scoring stint was in the 2019 season with the New York Liberty, wherein she averaged 13.7 points, 2.3 assists and 2.5 rebounds for game playing in 34 games and starting in all of them. She also received many awards and honors such as WNBA All-Star in 2019 and WNBL MVP in 2020. Apart from basketball, Nurse is also a basketball analyst for TSN where she displays her knowledge in the game.
