LA Sparks vs Chicago Sky: Prediction, Starting Lineups and Odds | 2024 WNBA Season (May 30)

Chicago Sky v Dallas Wings
Rookie Angel Reese will be in action during Chicago Sky's game against the LA Sparks on May 30.

The LA Sparks will be in Chicago on May 30 to take on the Sky in what promises to be a thrilling WNBA game. The No. 2 pick of the WNBA draft, Cameron Brink, will go head-to-head against the No. 7 pick, Angel Reese. This will be the first face-off between these two box-office franchises in the 2024 WNBA season.

The Sparks rank last in the Western Conference standings and are currently enduring a slow start to their season. The Tinseltown franchise has won just two games and lost four to begin their campaign.

LA will arrive in Chicago following a confidence-boosting win over Caitlin Clark-led Indiana Fever on the road. The Western Conference team will look to build on this momentum and increase their win tally on Thursday.

On the other side, the Chicago Sky turned heads after winning back-to-back matches against the Dallas Wings and New York Liberty. Since then, though, the franchise has lost two consecutive games, slipping to a 2-3 record for the season after five games. The Sky will look to return to winning ways, especially by defeating a team that hasn't played consistent basketball themselves.

Chicago has enjoyed good success over LA in recent history. Currently, the Sky hold a three-game win streak over the Sparks in the WNBA. That said, the last meeting between the two teams produced a nail-biter, with the Sky prevailing by just a single point.

LA Sparks vs Chicago Sky: Game Preview

This LA Sparks vs Chicago Sky matchup is slated to garner a ton of attention because it will feature two of the best young players in the league: rookies Cameron Brink and Angel Reese. Both Brink and Reese have had strong starts to their professional WNBA careers and have made a substantial impact on their respective teams' performances.

While Brink leads the league in blocks per game (3), Reese has been a force on the boards, collecting a league-leading 4.8 offensive rebounds per game.

The game will also feature Dearica Hamby, who is having a tremendous season. She leads the Sparks in points per game (20), rebounds per game (12.7), and assists per game (4). The Sky will have their work cut out to stop Hamby from having another terrific game on the offensive end.

While Angel Reese leads the Sky in rebounds, Marina Mabrey leads the team in points per game (16.8) and assists per game (4.8). The home team will look for strong performances from Reese and Mabrey to continue their recent dominance over the Sparks.
