The LA Sparks received devastating news on Wednesday when scans revealed that rookie Cameron Brink had sustained a left ACL tear. Brink is not just sidelined for the team's marquee game against the Liberty on Thursday but the former Stanford superstar's first year in the WNBA also came to a premature end.

Forward Azura Stevens will also miss the game with an arm injury while guard Julie Allemand was earlier ruled out of the season with an ankle injury.

For New York Liberty, guard Courtney Vandersloot has been listed as a game time decision owing to personal reasons. Forward Nyara Sabally has been ruled out with a back injury.

Forward Kaitlyn Davis and guard Rebekah Gardner were earlier ruled out of the entire season.

How have the two teams fared so far?

The LA Sparks have struggled for consistency right from the onset of the 2024 WNBA season. The "Tinseltown" franchise currently has the 3rd-worst record in the league having started the season with a 4-11 record after playing 15 games.

Curt Miller's Sparks are currently weathering a four-game losing streak. The franchise has lost eight of their last 11 games. Cameron Brink's injury only made things worse for the Western Conference franchise.

On the contrary, last year's runners-up New York Liberty have been consistent right throughout this season. Breanna Stewart & Co. boasts the 3rd-best record in the league with a 12-3 record after playing 15 games.

Sandy Brondello's group suffered a 93-99 defeat against Phoenix Mercury in their last game on June 18. The Liberty are the hot favorites to overpower the Sparks at home on Thursday and return to winning ways
