Following a thrilling win against the Indiana Fever, coach Teresa Weatherspoon’s Chicago Sky team returns to WNBA action in high spirits as they take on defending champions Las Vegas Aces at Wintrust Arena. Thursday’s clash will definitely be used as a statement of intent by Angel Reese & Co., especially if they manage to end the two-year-win drought against the Aces.
The last time the Sky defeated the Aces was on June 22, 2022, with a scoreline of 104-95.
Results may have been hot and cold so far, but coach Becky Hammon’s team, with eight wins and six defeats, hit the ground running when it mattered. This was evident during an 85-74 win against Eastern Conference rival Connecticut Sun, where A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum led the charge with a combined score of 46 points.
The Sky also endured a topsy-turvy season with six wins and nine losses. There is definitely room for improvement, but the stunning 88-87 victory against Indian Fever gives Sky fans great optimism for what may be a challenging season ahead.

In terms of key battles, one to watch out for will involve reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson and Sky rookie Angel Reese. The experienced Wilson has been with the Aces for nearly six years now, and the 6-foot-4 center will know that she has to be at her best to keep Reese from the board.
With an impressive stat line of 13.2 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season, it’s going to be key that she is kept quiet if the Aces are to come away with the victory.
