The Chicago Sky will like to snap their seven-game losing streak when they face the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday at the Wintrust Arena. Luck is something that has alluded to the Sky for a few weeks now, but for Sparks, it has been a season to forget since Cameron Brink’s injury.

Although neither team has shown any great form of late, the hosts look to be the team who could go and win this game. The return of Chennedy Carter could provide the spark the Sky needs for the playoff push.

Julie Allemand and Cameron Brink won't feature again until next season with season-ending injuries. Lexie Brown (illness) also remains on the sidelines with illness.

Curt Miller’s team put up a strong fight in their 93-86 loss to the Indiana Fever last time and will most likely retain the same lineup featuring Dearica Hamby, Stephanie Talbot, Azura Stevens, Rickea Jackson, and Odyssey Sims.

Chennedy Carter should play after returning to training earlier today while the guard recovers from health protocols. She last played against the Las Vegas Aces and averaged 17.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.8 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game.

Carter will join Angel Reese, Michaela Onyenwere, Kamilla Cardoso, and Rachel Banham in the starting five for the Sky

Los Angeles Sparks vs Chicago Sky: Preview and what to expect

In a league as fluid as the WNBA, two bad weeks can set you back some distance in the table. The Sky can attest to that, as they went from a 9-14 record before the All-Star and Olympic break to a disappointing 1-7 run afterward. And right now, they occupy the last spot in the playoffs with an 11-22 record. They are also tied with the Atlanta Dream and a loss today could send them out of the playoff picture.

`

By contrast, Curt Miller’s Sparks are currently stricken by injuries, affecting their momentum this season. They’re currently at the bottom of the league with 3-18 in their past 21 games.

A win on Friday could be the tonic they need to reinvigorate the winning touch to end the season on a decent note after a series of disappointing results, even though playoffs are out of reach.

This is going to be an extremely testing time for the Sky. Rickea Jackson has been a live wire, to say the least, in recent weeks and more playing time along with Dearica Hamby’s continued dominance will put the Sky to the test.

They will undoubtedly be organized and set up to frustrate the Sky, so Teresa Weatherspoon's women must remain patient and play with intensity throughout the game. If they can do so, they will be confident of securing a much-needed win on Friday.
