Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark continues to live up to the expectations of being the number one overall pick after setting another record. In the Fever's matchup against the Las Vegas Aces on Friday, Clark set the WNBA's record for most assists by a player in a season at 322.

Her fans celebrated the accomplishment on social media. 12-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul, who knows a thing or two about dishing dimes, congratulated Clark on this momentous achievement.

Paul gave a shoutout to Clark on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the following message:

"Assisting is what we do. Congrats Caitlin Clark on breaking the WNBA single season assist record!"

Clark dished nine dimes against the Aces to set the WNBA record for most assists in a season. She also scored 18 points, but the Fever were unable to ride her performance to a victory as they lost by just four points (78-74).

She broke the record set by Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas last season (316). Clark is the fourth player in league history to record more than 300 assists in a season.

Chris Paul, who congratulated Clark, is also known as one of the NBA's best playmakers. He has led the league in assists five times (2008, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2022).

Paul is third in the NBA's all-time assists leaders, with 11,894. He is only 197 assists shy of tying Jason Kidd, who is second on the list with 12,091. Paul still has a chance to surpass Kidd, provided he remains healthy this coming season.

Caitlin Clark also holds the WNBA's single-game assists record

Part of what makes Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark so popular among fans is her ability to drain the three-pointer. However, she has proven that she is more than just a scorer.

Clark is proving to be a handful to deal with on offense. She consistently sets up her teammates for easy baskets. Clark holds the WNBA record for most assists in a single game (19), a feat she achieved on Jul. 17 against the Dallas Wings. In that same game, she scored 24 points, showcasing her ability as a dual threat on offense.

However, despite the big night from Caitlin Clark, the Fever lost that game by eight points (101-93).

So far, she is also the only player in league history to have recorded a triple-double in their rookie season. She has done this twice, placing her on a short list of players who have recorded multiple triple-doubles.
