Sydney Colson has had a front-row ticket to A'ja Wilson’s historic campaign this season. Colson, a backup guard for the Las Vegas Aces, has been one of Wilson’s most energetic and vocal supporters. On Sunday, she was one of the teammates the two-time MVP hugged after reaching the record 1,000-point mark.
Wilson was briefly honored in front of Aces fans after her historic achievement. She also got the game ball, her second over the last few days, as a reminder of her accomplishment.
Sydney Colson went on X, formerly Twitter, to post a hilarious message:
“That’s now 2 balls you’ve been able to take home with you this season @_ajawilson22”
The Aces superstar gamely responded:
“Just adding another pair”
The first ball A'ja Wilson took home was the one used in the Aces-Fever game on Wednesday. Wilson received the memento after breaking Jewell Loyd’s single-season scoring record of 939 points last year. Loyd compiled the record in her 38th game while Wilson broke it in her 35th.
Four nights later, Wilson breached the 1,000-point mark, the first player in WNBA history to do so. Sydney Colson couldn’t hold back from trolling her superstar teammate.
After breaking the WNBA scoring record on Wednesday, A'Ja Wilson was spotted walking alongside Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo in Indianapolis.
Eva Wilson, A'ja Wilson's mother, reacted with laughing emojis to Sydney Colson's post. Colson had this to say following the mom's no-word response:
"My bad mama Eva, I be forgetting u on here"
Basketball fans react to A'ja Wilson and Sydney Colson’s hilarious exchange
Basketball fans often react to the smallest happenings on social media. A'ja Wilson’s historic night and Sydney Colson’s hilarious shot at her quickly became viral. It didn’t take long for fans to toss in their thoughts.
“And how many balls at home?,” one fan asked.
@MLSOOT1 sees the exchange as part of the Las Vegas Aces’ success:
“This team wins because they all really like each other. That locker room and team bus have to be hilarious. The fact that they post this stuff at all times of the day says they see each other as family.”
One fan commented:
“She said, ‘pair.’ I can’t with these two. I’m out.”
Meanwhile, a couple of fans had to bring Adebayo into the conversation:
“Wait…isn’t Bam already at your home?,” one fan said.
Basketball fans love lighthearted moments like this even when the WNBA is having peak competition. The Las Vegas Aces are hoping to grab the No. 4 seed in the playoffs and host the Seattle Storm. Despite the season at its most crucial, Wilson and Colson are having fun off the court.
