It was a special year for women's basketball and Caitlin Clark, and photographer Bri Lewerke was fortunate to capture some of 2024's biggest moments.
Lewerke has followed Clark's Indiana Fever and Iowa Hawkeyes career closely. On Monday, she shared a collection of pictures on Instagram and added a special message for all the people who have supported her along the way.
"I'm profoundly grateful for this past year — not only for the places it took me but, more importantly, for the people I encountered along the way 🤍 2024 will forever be remembered as a turning point for women’s sports — a revolutionary shift. To have been a small part of capturing that is a privilege I will always cherish," wrote Lewerke.
Lewerke's touching message received plenty of attention on social media, with friends and fans from around the globe paying tribute to the talented photographer. Lewerke also received a wholesome message from WNBA players Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin, who were both featured in the pictures.
"2025 let’s get to it," wrote Clark.
Martin was more succinct with her response, leaving a couple of emojis.
Clark and Martin were teammates at the University of Iowa and had tremendous success under coach Lisa Bluder. The team reached the NCAA national championship game in back-to-back years, and Lewerke was along for the ride, covering the journey every step of the way.
Clark would go on to be the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. Martin followed shortly after, with the Las Vegas Aces selecting her 18th.
Caitlin Clark reacts to Fever teammate Aliyah Boston's snap from WNBA All-Star weekend
Caitlin Clark is coming off a sensational year where she shattered records at the college and professional level. The Iowa native made a splash in her first season in the WNBA and was rewarded for her hard work by being named to the All-Star team in her rookie season.
Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston and guard Kelsey Mitchell were also selected to the All-Star team, with Boston taking a great snap of the three teammates together in Phoenix. Last week, the picture was uploaded on the Fever's Instagram account.
Clark was thrilled when she saw the selfie and added a brief comment.
"Selfie goes incredibly hard," wrote Clark.
Clark, Mitchell and Boston were instrumental in guiding the Fever to a 20-20 record, their best finish since 2015.
