Caitlin Clark is already one of the most accomplished players in WNBA history after just one season in pro basketball. She is easily the league’s most highly sought-after player who sets viewership and attendance records wherever she plays. Clark is expected to be even more popular in her second season.

The former Iowa star, however, still has a few more boxes to tick on her bucket list. On the “Fresh Tawk” podcast with host Jada Gyamfi, Clark had this to say about some of the things she wants to accomplish later in her life:

(46:50 mark)

“Have you ever seen them put up that dream thing? It said like, ‘Play in the WNBA, get a scholarship’ and one said, ‘Own a restaurant.’ One day, I have to accomplish that.”

Owning a restaurant or a coffee shop in the future should be a cinch for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year. She signed a four-year, $338K contract with the Indiana Fever in April. The salary is nowhere near what NBA players earn but Clark is an endorsement magnet.

The Caitlin Clark signed a reported $28 million, eight-year deal with Nike. She also endorses Wilson, Gatorade, State Farm, Bose, Buick, Hy-Vee, Topps, Goldman Sachs and a few more.

Caitlin Clark opens up about wanting to own a restaurant when she was still a kid

The goal to own a restaurant didn’t start when Caitlin Clark was already a collegiate basketball star. She opened up about her longtime ambition in the podcast with former teammates Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall:

(47:05 mark)

“I grew up and there’s always this random open lot and I always tell my mom I was gonna open this restaurant called the Rib Shack. I don’t know why. ... I wanted to open this restaurant, the Rib Crib. I was devastated when the lot got purchased and they built a retirement home on it. Every time we drove by it, I told my mom, ‘That’s my lot. That’s where I am gonna build the Rib Crib.”

Martin, Marshall and Gyamfi insisted that she should make her dream come true. Clark added that she would hopefully get it done for “fun.” The Indiana Fever star even joked about hiring her friends to work for her in the restaurant.
