Former WNBA star Sue Bird broke down the possibility of Angel Reese teaming up with Paige Bueckers in the new episode of 'A Touch More'. With the postseason right around the corner, teams who won't make it will likely get a chance to land the UConn star.
According to Bird, the 2025 WNBA Draft is the Bueckers sweepstakes. The star point guard has been with her current team for three seasons (officially, it's four, but she missed the 2022–23 season due to injury).
During college, she gradually improved, making her a valuable prospect. Now, it's time to see which WNBA team is lucky to have her.
Bird brought up the topic of Bueckers' path to a WNBA team on her podcast.
"So Dallas, they now are out of the playoffs, which means they're in the lottery for the 2025 draft, which is really the Paige Bueckers sweepstakes, assuming she comes out of college," Bird said.
Bird talked about it at the 12:40 mark.
Sue Bird also said that the Dallas Wings can swap their pick with the Chicago Sky. That is if the Sky gets a higher draft pick. The four-time WNBA champion also stated the possibility of the Washington Mystics taking over the lottery.
The Mystics own Atlanta Dream's pick next year and if both teams don't make the postseason, Washington will have two lottery picks.
Bird went into detail about a potential Reese-Bueckers team-up. The former WNBA star said that the season-ending injury that the Sky forward suffered will affect how Chicago will end their season.
If they miss the postseason because of her wrist injury, there's a chance that fans will see the young duo play together.
Angel Reese went into detail about her wrist injury
Angel Reese was having a great first year in Chicago. Unfortunately, she had to get shut down by the team because of her wrist injury. Reese posted a video on TikTok on Sunday sharing details about her injury with her fans.
"I fell on my hand when I got the and-one, when I fell back (and) fell on my hand and it is a small crack in my bone," Reese said.
"Basically, the doctors told me that I could either not get surgery or have surgery. The risk of not having surgery – I could literally have arthritis at 22 years old. That wasn’t an option. The bone could literally crack and completely shatter. Right now, it’s like a hairline … They’re going to put a small screw in it. And I wasn’t going for it getting any bigger."
According to the Sky, Reese underwent a successful surgery on Tuesday. But it will take some time for her to recover from the injury.
