Las Vegas Aces star center A'ja Wilson continued her dominant start to the 2024 WNBA season during Wednesday's 80-66 road win over the Minnesota Lynx. In doing so, she made league history, garnering praise from her teammate Alysha Clark.

Wilson tallied a game-high 29 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, two steals and four blocks on 47.8% shooting. 16 of her 29 points came in the second half, helping Las Vegas extend its lead to as high as 17 points late in the contest.

Wilson had the edge over Lynx star forward Napheesa Collier, who recorded a team-high 18 points and 13 rebounds but shot only 37.5%.

With their victory, the Aces improved to a Western Conference-leading 4-1 record, moving 0.5 games ahead of the Lynx (4-2) in the season's opening portion. However, perhaps more impressively, Wilson's double-double performance helped her achieve a historic milestone.

The two-time MVP became the first player in WNBA history to record five consecutive games with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds. She has done so in every game this season, with Las Vegas having only played five contests thus far.

After Wilson's record-setting evening, Clark, who tallied nine points, six rebounds and two 3-pointers on 60.0% shooting, lauded her on her Instagram story.

"A bad Mamma Jamma right there," Clark captioned a graphic of Wilson's historic streak.

A'ja Wilson will look to extend her historic 20-point, 10-rebound streak to six games during Friday's road matchup against the Atlanta Dream (3-2).

A'ja Wilson making early case for record-tying third MVP

Amid her impressive start to the season, A'ja Wilson continues establishing herself as this year's early MVP favorite.

Through five games, Wilson is averaging a career-best 26.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.6 blocks per game on 49.5% shooting. She ranks second in the WNBA in scoring, first in rebounding and third in blocks.

Meanwhile, she is spearheading a Las Vegas squad leading the league in offensive rating (108.0) for the fourth straight season.

Wilson came up just short of winning her third MVP last season. She finished third (433 points) behind New York Liberty and Connecticut Sun stars Breanna Stewart (446 points) and Alyssa Thomas (439 points) in a historically close vote. However, she went on to win the 2023 WNBA Finals MVP award after leading the Aces to their second consecutive title.

A third MVP trophy this season would tie Wilson with WNBA legends Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson for the most all-time.
