A'ja Wilson was caught on camera post-game Tuesday poking fun at some individuals who were taking too long snapping photos with Usher. On Wednesday, she cleared the air on who she was calling out.
Many fans at the time thought she was referring to her teammates when making the comment. But she has since cleared the air about what she meant following the 93-85 loss to Angel Reese's Chicago Sky.
"I was ready to go to the locker room and the r*fs were doing a lot...sorry [for] my language," Wilson wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Her response insinuates that it was the referees from the game, and not her teammates, who were causing the hold-up and leading her to make the comment.
One fan responded to the clarified comment, surprised that A'ja Wilson was referring to the referees.
"Wait you was talking about the REFS?? That's even funnier," a fan wrote.
Angel Reese's Chicago Sky top A'ja Wilson's Las Vegas Aces
Wilson had 28 points and 14 rebounds, and Tiffany Hayes was excellent off the bench with 19 points on 8-10 shooting. Jackie Young had a solid 17 points, but Kelsey Plum went 0-8 from three and finished with just eight points. Chelsea Gray had just seven points and two rebounds.
On defense, they were torched by Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter, who finished with a season-high 35 points while shooting 14-24 from the field. Angel Reese had 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Marina Mabrey, in her last game for the Sky, scored 15 points while shooting 3-7 from deep.
Wilson had five blocks and three steals on that end of the floor, but it wasn't enough to come back against the Sky. She now has 28 or more points in three straight games and continues her campaign for her third WNBA MVP award.
The Aces were on a roll coming into the matchup and have now won eight of their last 10 following the loss. The Sky, on the other hand, are an even 5-5 in their last 10 and are trying to recover from a poor start to the season.
