WNBA fans ridiculed A'ja Wilson on X after news about the Las Vegas Aces star's virtual speaking fees went viral. It was compared to a similar post on Caitlin Clark that Legion Hoops reported on Monday. According to it, Clark's virtual speaking fee is $100K.
Shortly after Clark's news started trending, a fan posted a screenshot of an article claiming that the reigning WNBA MVP charged more money, $110K, for speaking virtually. However, fans were not pleased with the comparisons and flamed Wilson in the comments section.
One fan commented on Wilson's lack of likeability and blamed it on her insecurities.
"A'ja Wilson would be so much more likable if she wasn’t so insecure," a fan said.
Others joined in and expressed similar sentiments.
"Aja Wilson is making 0 dollars if she charges 220K an hour for online speaking fees," a fan wrote.
"Haha. She might ask for that but there won’t be a long client list," another fan said.
"lol. A’ja struggling to pull $24 on Cameo," a fan commented.
One fan questioned the credibility of the article and its sources, telling the readers to ignore the news.
"When you see the names Natalie Esquire and Dolores, you can easily ignore it as it automatically has zero credibility," a fan wrote.
"It is from the esquire woman, not any expert. She is just a wnba housewife wannabe," another fan said.
A'ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark both had incredible runs last season. Wilson ended the campaign in the semifinals, failing to achieve a three-peat with the Aces. However, they still proved that they were championship contenders who could be back at the top with some changes.
As for Clark, she led the Indiana Fever to their first playoffs since 2016, and although her season ended in the first round, it showed her huge potential.
A'ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark can be the wildcards in the inaugural season of the Unrivaled
Unrivaled, the 3x3 basketball league founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, will begin its inaugural season on Jan. 17. However, neither A'ja Wilson nor Caitlin Clark, two of the biggest names in the WNBA, have confirmed their participation.
On Nov. 20, Unrivaled announced the teams and coaches. Clark's teammates, Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull, will play as well as Wilson's fellow Aces Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray.
There are still three wildcard spots remaining and there is a chance that both Wilson and Clark will be announced at a later date.
