A'ja Wilson drops 3-word reaction to former coach Dawn Staley's Gucci look with Gamecocks squad

Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson often pays attention to what her former coach Dawn Staley does. Wilson and Staley formed a bond during their four years together with the South Carolina Gamecocks and have remained close over the years.

The latest example of their friendship came on Friday. The Gamecocks hosted the LSU Tigers at Colonial Life Arena in a duel between two of the best teams in Division I. Staley was dressed for the occasion, turning heads with her outfit.

Wilson took to Instagram to drop a three-word message for her former coach.

"Garnet Gucci Girlie," she captioned the post.

The Gamecocks secured a commanding win over the Tigers, 66-56. Joyce Edwards led the way with 14 points off the bench while Sania Feagin added 12 units. Aneesah Morrow finished with 15 points while Mikaylah Williams and Flau'Jae Johnson added 13 points apiece for LSU.

South Carolina improved to 19-1 while giving LSU its first loss of the season.

After securing a lucrative $25.25 million extension with the South Carolina Gamecocks, Dawn Staley was the woman of the hour in college basketball and beyond.

Following USC's 101-60 win over Oklahoma on Sunday, Staley talked about the exit clause in her new contract. She made it clear she's not thinking about going to the WNBA.

"It's a give and take," Staley said. "It was important for me to have a guaranteed contract. But in having a guaranteed contract, you’ve got to give them something. I would never leave here to go take another college job. ... I really don’t have any passion for the next level."

A'ja Wilson reacted to her former coach's words.

"We get itttttt you don’t wanna come to the W," Wilson wrote, adding a GIF of a toddler rolling her eyes.

Wilson is on vacation after a magical 2024 WNBA season in which she became the second unanimous MVP in league history.
