This week, A'ja Wilson and Jayson Tatum were announced as the next NBA 2K25 cover athletes. The game will release several different covers, with Jayson Tatum appearing on the standard edition of NBA 2K25, and A'ja Wilson appearing on the WNBA Edition of NBA 2K25. In addition, the pair will appear on the cover together for the All-Star edition of the game.
Last, but certainly not least, Hall of Famer Vince Carter will be appearing on the Hall of Fame edition of NBA 2K25. In the case of A'ja Wilson and Jayson Tatum, the pair both appeared on a recent edition of The Old Man & The Three alongside guest host Sue Bird to discuss the situation.
As Wilson revealed, she doesn't play video games, however, given that she is now the cover athlete for NBA 2K25, she may have to start. When asked about her reaction to finding out that she was an NBA 2K25 cover athlete, she explained:
"My agent called and she was like, 'Hey, you're going to be on the cover' and I was like, 'Oh, wait, no, like, about time Ronnie.' But no, it was a big moment. I mean, you see yourself, you dream of, like, JT was saying, like, as a kid, you just dream yourself seeing your face in these spaces.
"And then for it to actually be real and happen, I mean, I see my face on a potato chip bag and it's like, 'Oh, my gosh, now I'm in a video game, and now I'm on the cover.'"
Jayson Tatum shares his reaction after finding out he would be on the cover of NBA 2k25 alongside A'ja Wilson
As previously mentioned, Jayson Tatum will be the male cover athlete for the standard edition of NBA 2k25. While A'ja Wilson was told by her agent that she was going to grace the cover of the game, Jayson Tatum found out with some help from his son, Deuce.
As he revealed, he found out that he would be appearing on the cover of NBA 2K25 on his birthday, when his son Deuce brought him a bag. Inside was a note, informing the NBA champ that he had been selected to appear on the cover of NBA 2K25.
"I actually, like, got teary eyed. I kind of cried a little bit just because I feel like I'm very blessed and fortunate that when I was younger, I had so many dreams and goals and things I wanted to check off, and it's like I'm experiencing those things in real time."
While there's been no word as to what Tatum and A'ja Wilson will be rated in NBA 2K25, overall ratings will likely be announced prior to the release of NBA 2K25, which is set for Sep. 6 release on various consoles.
Given that Tatum is a reigning NBA champion, and Wilson is a two-time defending WNBA champion, the expectation is that the pair will be two of the best players in the game.
