The first quarter of the game ended with Team USA leading by nine points, 26-17. The WNBA stars had to wait until the final minutes of the period to get a comfortable lead. Wilson had a quiet start, only scoring two points for her national team.

The second quarter was significantly better for Wilson, who finished with 10 points, becoming the team's second-highest scorer behind Breanna Stewart (13 points). She grabbed six rebounds and two assists to close a terrific first half for herself and the team.

Helped by Wilson's resurgence, Team USA extended its lead to 19 points after Nigeria cut it to just five points.

Wilson kept the good moment in the second half of the game, adding 10 points to her account, finishing the duel with 20 units. She only missed two of her nine field-goal attempts, shooting 82% from the floor. A'ja recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds while assisting teammates twice in 25:17 minutes of action.

The game was more competitive down the stretch, as Nigeria won the fourth quarter by a score of 26-12. This late comeback attempt put them relatively close to Team USA, who held on to the 88-74 win.

What's next for A'ja Wilson on Team USA?

After taking care of Nigeria, the USA Basketball women's team is set to face off against a known opponent, Australia, in the first game of the semifinals on Friday. On the other end, France and Belgium will clash to define who will face the winner of the Team USA vs Australia showdown.

A'ja Wilson showed again that she's the leader of this team and no matter who's in front of her, she'll dominate the game. Team USA won its 59 consecutive games against the African team and seeing how well they're playing in this tournament, that number is likely to get bigger in the next few days.
