A'ja Wilson entered Tuesday's game against the Chicago Sky as a favorite for the WNBA MVP. Wilson might have sealed the deal after scoring two 40-point games last week. She finished with 30 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks in the Las Vegas Aces' 90-71 win over the Sky.
Wilson was quiet after the first two quarters with just nine points, seven rebounds and one block. She was not as aggressive as in the past few games, going just 3-for-5 from the field after the first half. She didn't need to do too much with Chelsea Gray and Tiffany Hayes making a fast start as the Aces were up by 16 points.
Hayes was in the starting lineup after Kelsey Plum was ruled out before the game. The Aces have been inconsistent this season although they are playing much better compared to the first two months.
In the second half, A'ja Wilson was more aggressive as the Las Vegas Aces did their best to stop any runs from the Chicago Sky. Wilson had a much better second half with 21 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
The South Carolina product took over the game as the Sky were trying to trim the lead to less than 10 points. She scored nine of the final 11 points of the game for Las Vegas.

Diana Taurasi in awe of A'ja Wilson after Mercury's loss to Aces
A'ja Wilson put up 41 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in the Las Vegas Aces' dominating 97-79 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday. It was Wilson's second 40-point game in three games, scoring a WNBA season-high 42 points against the Dallas Wings last Tuesday.
Former WNBA MVP Diana Taurasi was in awe of Wilson's performance and even warned the rest of the league. Taurasi was impressed with the Aces superstar finally adding a 3-point shot to her game.
"There has been some amazing players in our league, but what she is doing right now is just unthinkable, how well she is playing on both ends, she’s just unguardable. You guys look at her as a post, I look at her as a guard. It's not like she is posting up. Everything is face up, jab steps and I believe she's making threes now. Good luck for the next 10 years to this league if she is making threes," Taurasi said.
A'ja Wilson is already a two-time MVP, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and a two-time WNBA champion. Wilson will likely win her third MVP and DPOY this season, while a third championship will be much harder to earn.
