A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces were in Dallas on Tuesday, gunning for a second straight victory to steady their ship following the Olympic break.
The two-time defending WNBA champions have gone 2-3 to start the second half of the ongoing season. They were coming off a buzzer-beating 77-75 victory over the Chicago Sky on Sunday, something they were looking to build on against the Wings in their road game.
A'ja Wilson took charge early for Las Vegas, going 8-of-11 from the field for 17 points in the opening 20 minutes of the game. She also had three rebounds, an assist and a block to help her team to a 42-37 lead at the break.
Jackie Young also played big for the Aces with 13 points and three rebounds in the 18:20 minutes she played in the first half.
A'ja Wilson continued with her impressive shooting in the third quarter, scoring 15 of the team's 27 points in the third quarter on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. Her steady marksmanship helped the Aces stave off a spirited push in the frame to continue to hold sway, 69-62, heading into the final canto.
The Aces and Wings continued to batte in the fourth quarter, fighting to an 82-all count with 51 seconds to go in the game.
Dallas, however, proved to be the steadier team for the remainder of the game, led by its stars Arike Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally, as it outlasted the visiting Aces, 93-90.
The loss negated the stellar scoring night of A'ja Wilson, who ended up with 42 points on 16-of-22 shooting.

A'ja Wilson bounces back from poor shooting in their previous game
While A'ja Wilson lit it up in their game against the Dallas Wings on Tuesday, it was not the case last time around in their match against the Chicago Sky, where she was underwhelming from the field.
Against the Sky on the road on Sunday, two-time WNBA MVP and champion Wilson went for 8-of-28 from the field. She admitted her scoring struggles got the better of her emotionally in various stretches of the game but was just thankful she got the job done in other ways, including draining the buzzer-beating game-winner for their 77-75 victory.
She took to X, formerly Twitter, to express her thoughts on what went down against the Sky, writing:
"Could've built a house with my bricks today but WONT HE DO IT on this lovely Sunday afternoon."
Apart from scoring the game-winner to make up for her shooting struggles, A'ja Wilson also had 18 rebounds, three blocks, two steals and two assists against the Sky.
