Guard Chelsea Gray and Center A'ja Wilson may be teammates on the Las Vegas Aces, but that hasn't stopped Wilson from teasing Gray. Specifically, Wilson is teasing her teammate because her alma mater, South Carolina, beat Duke on Thursday.
The Dawn Staley-coached South Carolina squad beat the Blue Devils 81-70. Wilson reposted an image from the South Carolina Women's Basketball Instagram page to celebrate the win to her stories section. While reposting the story, Wilson tagged Chelsea Gray.
"lmfaooooo AGAIN?" Wilson wrote.
After the story was posted, Chelsea Gray took the time to respond to the teasing. In her reply to her Aces teammate, Gray tried to appear calm with a one-word response.
"Whatever," Gray wrote in her response.
Wilson played all four years (2014-15 to 2017-18) of her college career for South Carolina. Wilson averaged 17.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 2.6 blocks in those four years. From her sophomore to her senior year, she led her conference in blocks with 3.1 in year two, 2.6 in year three and 3.2 in her final college season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea Gray spent all four college years (2010-11 to 2013-14) with the Duke Blue Devils. Gray averaged 11.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 5.0 apg and 2.7 steals per game. During her sophomore season, she led her conference in assists with 6.1 per game.
A'ja Wilson made Aces teammates, including Chelsea Gray, wear South Carolina outfits for preseason game
The Las Vegas Aces played a preseason game against the Puerto Rican National Team on May 11 at the Colonial Life Arena. As the exhibition was A'ja Wilson's homecoming, she ensured her teammates wore the right outfits.
Wilson made some of her teammates wear South Carolina gear as they entered the Gamecock's home arena. Interestingly, none of these teammates are South Carolina alums.
The Aces's social media team joined the fun and shared a clip of some players wearing their outfits. The clip featured Chelsea Gray of Duke, Jackie Young of Notre Dame, Kate Martin and Megan Gustafson of Iowa, Sydney Colson of Texas A&M and Kiah Stokes of UConn.
While it was all fun and games with their pregame outfits, the Las Vegas Aces handled their business against the Puerto Rican National Team.
A'ja Wilson scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds on her return to her college arena. Kelsey Plum added 21 points and Megan Gustafson scored 17. The Aces dominated their opponents for a 52-point win (102-50).
