A prank inspired by A'ja Wilson might be on the horizon for Las Vegas Aces rookie Elizabeth Kitley after her alma mater, Virginia Tech, was defeated 81-59 by teammate Chelsea Gray’s Duke squad on Sunday.

Chelsea Gray, a proud Duke alumna, hinted at the idea on X (formerly Twitter), referencing a prior prank by Wilson where she made the Aces don USC Gamecocks gear to celebrate their national championship win. Sharing a graphic of Duke’s victory over Virginia Tech, Gray tweeted:

“Aye yo @_ajawilson22 (A’ja Wilson) …. This mean I gotta dress @elizabethkitley (Elizabeth Kitley) in something reallllll nice? 👀,” she said.

Kitley responded with humor, replying:

“Is that how this works😭.”

Kitley, the former Virginia Tech center, was drafted 24th by the Aces in the 2024 WNBA Draft but has been sidelined with an ACL injury, leaving her as an inactive player.

A'ja Wilson is no stranger to playful pranks, including having her teammates wear Gamecocks merchandise and gifting rookies children’s backpacks.

During her rookie year, Golden State Valkyries guard Kate Martin also fell victim to a prank when the Aces’ team bus humorously left her behind.

Dunks are a rarity in women’s basketball, often leading to debates about lowering the rims. Yet USC’s Ashlyn Watkins proved they’re not impossible, throwing down a fastbreak dunk against TCU after forcing a steal.

Chelsea Gray, watching the play, shared her excitement on X, writing:

“I was yelling DUNK ITTTTTTT,” she said.

A'ja Wilson has teased fans about attempting a dunk in the upcoming 2025 WNBA season. However, she has voiced her opposition to lowering rims, arguing it would disrupt shooting mechanics.

“That could be like my offseason — I would much rather gear my offseason to like, 'Let's focus on this jumping' versus lowering like an inch. That could change all of our shots. Do y'all not understand that?" Wilson said.
"I would much rather just like, 'Ok, let's get in the gym, let's work.' You never know, next year I might dunk," she added.

Currently, only two active WNBA players, Brittney Griner and Jonquel Jones, have recorded dunks in games. Griner leads with 26 career dunks.
