For Napheesa Collier, the WNBA offseason is extra busy, given that she's one of the co-founders of the 3x3 league Unrivaled. Her husband, Alex Bazell, who also happens to be the president of the league, shared a snapshot offering a glimpse of her offseason grind.
An Instagram story posted by Bazzell on Thursday showed him, Collier and their daughter, Mila, Sarah seated together in a plane.
The caption reads: "On our way to Miami @unrivaledbasketball."
The first season of Unrivaled is set to tip off on Jan. 17. Among the many duties that Collier is fulfilling for the league, she is a player for the Lunar Owls Basketball Club. Even as the holiday season is in full swing, Queen Phee remains a busy bee.
Collier and Bazzell spoke about the grind of running a startup league on the Dec. 6 episode of "The Ringer WNBA Show."
"I think the biggest lesson is just, how much work goes into it," the reigning WNBA Defensive Player of the Year said. "(Having) never started a league before, you don't really know all the ins and outs of all that stuff."
Bazzell added, "I've been blessed enough to build a lot of connections from my work on the NBA side with players, agencies, and inevitably the media side coming together. ... We had aspirations of just getting reach and visibility in year one. We ended up getting both."
Napheesa Collier and Alex Bazzell give co-founder Breanna Stewart a specific instruction
In the same Ringer interview, Napheesa Collier talked about the importance of surrounding herself with the right people who could help Unrivaled get off the ground. One individual who is working hard alongside Collier and Alex Bazzell is co-founder Breanna Stewart, who recently posted a tweet that left fans hanging.
Bazzell clarified that he and Phee gave Stewart a specific instruction:
"We told Stewie can't post pictures yet so don't be upset with her."
While fans are left imagining how the Unrivaled facility looks, the league's roster is crystal clear at this point. Thirty-six players are set to compete in the inaugural season, including blockbuster names like Sabrina Ionescu, Angel Reese, Cameron Brink and DiJonai Carrington.
Amid their other roles for the league, Collier and Stewart are also expected to bring their A-game to Unrivaled when it tips off in a few weeks.
