Although the WNBA season is currently on hiatus, that hasn't stopped some of its biggest stars from staying in the spotlight. Indiana Fever power forward Aliyah Boston, in particular, seems eager to get back on the court.
Boston made an appearance at Fertita Cente on Saturday to watch the game between the Houston Cougars and Butler Bulldogs women's teams. Her presence didn't go unnoticed, not only because of her star status but also due to her stylish outfit, which featured a classic black-and-white contrast. She wore black pants, a white top and white Adidas shoes.
Aliyah Boston can't wait to get back on the court
Boston has been quite active on social media lately, showing her excitement about the upcoming season. She even reacted to another team's news, responding to a press release announcing that the Connecticut Sun would finally return to the legendary TD Garden:
"After a historic sell-out a season ago, the Connecticut Sun will return to TD Garden, home of the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins, to host the Indiana Fever on Tuesday, July 15," the press release read.
"I can’t wait to play in the Garden," she wrote with a couple of fire emojis. "I know Boston is going to show out again."
Boston was also very excited to share her team's full schedule for the upcoming season, once again showing how eager she is to return to the court:
"The Fev show will be returning soon," Boston wrote.
Fever stars need to rest
However, not all of Aliyah Boston's teammates feel the same way. Caitlin Clark, for starters, is happy to take some time off basketball for a change after two years of non-stop hooping in college and the pros:
"It's gonna be nice, I think," Clark said in her rookie season exit interview, "getting out of the spotlight and just getting to live my life and do things that I want to do."
Clark even turned down a "Messi-like deal" with the new women's basketball league 'Unrivaled,' as she looked to get some well-deserved rest. Even so, the league still hopes she will reconsider her stance in the future:
“We’re always going to have a roster spot for Caitlin Clark," league president Alex Bazzell told Sportico late in October. "We’re not applying a full-court press the way people think. We are letting her decompress from basketball. She knows that we have a spot for her when she’s ready.”
Whether she'll ever play for them or not remains to be seen. One thing's for sure, though; the Fever are up and coming, and Aliyah Boston and Clark should put on a show together next season.
