Aliyah Boston gearing up for inaugural Unrivaled season

While he's busy with the ongoing collegiate season, Tre-Vaughn Minott is also rallying behind girlfriend Aliyah Boston, who's set to play in the inaugural season of the 3-on-3 Unrivaled Basketball League beginning this week.

The 23-year-old former WNBA rookie of the year will be playing for Vinyl Basketball Club in the new league, joining forces with Rae Burrell (LA Sparks), Jordin Canada (Atlanta Dream), Dearica Hamby (Sparks), Rhyne Howard (Dream) and Arike Ogunbowale (Dallas Wings).

Vinyl is coached by former WNBA player and Chicago Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon, whose coaching Boston is excited about .

She said of her Unrivaled coach (via Sports Illustrated):

"I love her energy. That was the first thing when we got on the court ... it makes you play hard and give it our all."

Entering Unrivaled, Aliyah Boston is coming off another All-Star season in the WNBA. She averaged 14 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 blocks in 40 games. Along with rookie sensation Caitlin Clark and veteran Kelsey Mitchell, she helped the Fever reach the playoffs for the first time after eight years.

In Unrivaled, she's counted on to give her team the inside presence and high basketball IQ on both ends.

Vinyl is one of six teams slated to compete in the debut season of Unrivaled. The other teams are Laces BC, Lunar Owls BC, Mist BC, Phantom BC and Rose BC.

The league tips off on Jan. 17 in Miami, Florida, and will run until March 17, including the playoffs. The league is co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier to give a viable alternative to women professional players to show what they can do on the court while earning good money during the WNBA offseason.
