Following the announcement that Satou Sabally received a core designation from the Dallas Wings, trade rumors surrounding her erupted. Multiple reports indicate that the Indiana Fever is among the teams interested in acquiring Sabally.
Adding fuel to the fire, the Wings All-Star was recently spotted with Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston. Sabally posted an image featuring Boston on her Instagram Stories.
Boston then reposted the image on her own Instagram account with the caption:
"Love a night out on the town."
This is not the first recent interaction between the two WNBA All-Stars.
On Thursday, Satou Sabally announced her partnership with Adidas as one of the brand’s ambassadors. Boston, who has been with Adidas since 2023, took to Instagram to welcome Sabally
Additionally, Sabally shared an Instagram post last week in which she was playing dominoes with several people, including six-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler. Boston was also tagged in the post.
While Sabally and Boston appear to be developing a friendship, this is no indication that Sabally will join Boston on the Fever roster. After designating her as a core player, the Wings retain the right to trade her anywhere, and Dallas’ front office could decide to send her to any team in the league.
Satou Sabally could end up with the New York Liberty, one writer suggests
On Tuesday, The Athletic's writer Sabreena Merchant shared her predictions for free agency, with Dallas Wings All-Star Satou Sabally topping the list. According to Merchant, the New York Liberty has the assets needed to acquire Sabally. In addition to multiple draft picks, the Liberty also has players to trade.
Merchant noted that Sabally has several reasons to prefer New York. Her sister, Nyara Sabally, plays for the Liberty, and Sabally’s former college teammate Sabrina Ionescu is also a key player on the team.
Merchant also said in her article that Indiana, despite being rumored as a destination, is reportedly not one of Sabally’s preferred teams.
Regardless of where she lands, Sabally will be a highly valuable two-way player. Last season, she averaged 17.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
She was an efficient scorer, shooting 42.6% on 13.9 attempts per game, including 45.2% from 3-point range and 77.9% from the free-throw line.
