Alyssa Thomas' fiancee DeWanna Bonner had no intentions of 'dating a teammate' again after Candice Dupree split

WNAB star DeWanna Bonner revealed that she had no intentions of dating a teammate after her messy breakup with Candice Dupree.

Bonner is in a relationship with teammate Alyssa Thomas and the Connecticut Sun stars will soon tie the knot.

However, before Bonner had come into a romantic relationship with Thomas, she was involved with former basketball player Candice Dupree. They met each other in their time together at the Phoenix Mercury.

The couple got married in 2014 and had twin kids together but soon after that, their marriage fell apart and Bonner was traded to the Connecticut Sun.

The two-time WNBA champion revealed that she decided to never date a teammate ever again after her breakup with Dupree.

"I wasn’t trying to get into another relationship, especially with a teammate, after I’d just come off of one. That just was not in my goals or vision at all," Bonner said. (via SB Nation)

However, things took a turn and Bonner and Thomas ended up dating each other. They got engaged in July during the All-Star weekend last year and had kept things between them private before the announcement.

"My first relationship was so public. I just wanted to enjoy my relationship with her for a little bit before we let the world know and everybody formed their opinion," Bonner said.

Now, after being engaged for almost a year, the couple have decided to tie the knot.

Although there isn't a fixed date yet, the Sun stars are in the process of planning it out. DeWanna Bonner is currently representing her country as part of the USA Women's National Basketball Team competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The WNBA power couple Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner were featured together on the SLAM magazine cover for the July issue. The official Instagram handle of the SLAM magazine posted the cover pictures featuring the Connecticut Sun stars in a post.

In the pictures, the power couple can be seen posing for the camera alongside each other. The couple wore three different attires for three different pictures. The first one featured them in a Team USA jersey while the second one was in their familiar Connecticut Sun home jersey.

Lastly, the final picture featured the couple posing in casual attire in which Bonner can be seen sitting on a chair with a basketball at her feet while Thomas is standing behind her.
