Amped Caitlin Clark drops 3-word reaction to former Iowa teammate Kate Martin's move to Golden State Valkyries

Caitlin Clark reacted to Kate Martin's new chapter in the WNBA after only spending a season with the Las Vegas Aces. The former Iowa Hawkeyes guard wasn't protected by the two-time WNBA champions ahead of the expansion draft, which left the door open for the Golden State Valkyries to make her one of their selections.

Martin was the No. 6 selection of the Aces after Iliana Rupert (Atlanta Dream), Maria Conde (Chicago Sky), Veronica Burton (Connecticut Sun), Carla Leite (Dallas Wings) and Temi Fagbenle (Indiana Fever). Clark took to Instagram and wrote a three-word message to pump up Martin's new beginning.

Both Clark and Martin entered the WNBA in the 2024 draft, with the former joining the Indiana Fever as the first overall selection while Martin was selected by the then defending champions Las Vegas Aces as the No. 18 overall pick.

While Caitlin became the Rookie of the Year, Martin struggled to find a spot on a team full of veterans ready to win. Perhaps a new start with the Valkyries, a young with uncertain expectations, can be the start of something good for her.

Just like Caitlin Clark, several fans had things to say about Kate Martin joining the Golden State Valkyries ahead of the 2025 WNBA season.

Some wished nothing but good things for Martin after a discreet season with the Aces.

"I loved Kate in Las Vegas hoping she plays more for the Valkyries and I wish Kate nothing but the best," one fan said.

"Can’t wait to watch her thrive! Love me some Kate!" another fan said.

"Whoaaaaa! That's a big addition!" another fan wrote.

Others were wary about the chemistry and the potential regression in Martin's level but also noted that she has played alongside very talented people, starting with Caitlin Clark.

"This kind sucks for Kate. She’s going to lose out on learning and growing her game with an amazing group of vet players," one fan said.

"This lineup isn’t soft but it going to require chemistry but this is going to be fun to watch," another fan said.

The Golden State Valkyries added a series of intriguing players that could mesh well. Their success will depend on Natalie Nakase potentially extracting the best out of the group.
