Along with her dynamic skillset, Caitlin Clark's mindset and maturity helped set her apart as arguably the greatest prospect in WNBA history. The Rookie of the Year's wisdom and mental fortitude helped her weather the storm as the most hyped-up college basketball player in recent memory, which carried into her first season as a pro.

On and off the court, Clark keeps her cool in front of the biggest crowds and remains humble despite the mass media attention. On Wednesday afternoon, WNBA analyst Meghan McKeown revealed Clark's maturity dates back to her early days at the University of Iowa as a freshman phenom for the Hawkeyes.

"It's COVID, like, I hadn't heard of Caitlin Clark before. She's a freshman at Iowa. We get on this Zoom, and I was like, 'Caitlin Clark is talking to me like she's 30 years old.' She was so well-spoken. She was so good at describing, you know, why her turnovers were really high early on. She handled it with so much maturity and poise."

At that time, Clark was coming off a stellar freshman season at Iowa. In just her first collegiate season, Clark led the country in scoring, averaging 26.6 points, 7.1 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game, earning second-team All-American honors.

New Fever HC discusses one of her first conversations with Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark will play under her second head coach in her second WNBA season. The Indiana Fever elected to move on from Christie Sides after two seasons following a 20-20 campaign in Clark's rookie season.

On November 1, the Fever introduced Stephanie White as their new head coach. Over a month later, White shed insights into one of her first conversations with Indiana's superstar during an appearance on Coaching U on Tuesday afternoon.

"My first conversation with her about X's and O's the other day, and I was just like, 'Okay, how do you want to improve? What are some of the things you want to improve on?' Then we'll talk about how we want to do that."

Stephanie White also discussed her plans to help her star point guard become more efficient in her second WNBA season. The addition of White could help Clark reach a greater step in her development.
