Angel Reese reacted to the Chicago Sky signing a new head coach after releasing Teresa Weatherspoon after the 2024 WNBA season. Weatherspoon spent just one season with the Sky, finishing with a record of 13-27, and is now a free agent.
Reese, just like she did when Weatherspoon was fired, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday and sent a short but direct message about the Sky's decision to add Tyler Marsh as the leader of their project. Using a single letter, she explained how she felt about this.
"W," Reese wrote on Saturday.
Tyler Marsh was an assistant coach and the Head of Player Development at the Las Vegas Aces, where he won two championships in 2022 and 2023. He's now taking on a new and bigger challenge, as the Sky have several questions to answer before the start of the 2025 season.
Angel Reese was heartbroken after Teresa Weatherspoon was dismissed by Sky
Angel Reese wrote a lengthy message on X/Twitter to talk about her connection with Teresa Weatherspoon and how grateful she was for her support.
“I’m heartbroken,” Reese tweeted. “I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me in such a pivotal point in my life. She was the only person that believed in me. The one that trusted me.”
“Many don’t even know what it’s like to be a Black woman in sports when nobody believes in you," Reese added. "You had a tough job. All the crazy circumstances that we went through this year & when your back was against the wall, you always believed.”
The Chicago Sky have two talented rookies in Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso and could bring back Chennedy Carter. The front office will hope to make the right moves to assemble a competitive team for next season.
