Angel Reese supports her brother Juju Reese as he carves out a basketball career. On Sunday night, the Chicago Sky star rallied behind him once more as he dropped 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the University of Maryland to a 76-75 win over Villanova.
Angel commended Juju and his teammate Derik Queen for putting up double-double performances at the Saatva Empire Classic to help Maryland improve to 5-1 this season.
“My boyzzz,” Reese said in her Instagram story.
Queen led the team in scoring with 22 points and 11 rebounds. It was also the first time since February that two players tallied double-doubles in a single game for Maryland. Queen drained the game-winning two free throws to get past Villanova in thrilling fashion.
Juju Reese has been working hard to show scouts that he is an NBA-capable talent in his last year in college. In six games this season with the Terrapins, Reese has averaged 13.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per game.
Just like his sister in the WNBA, Juju has been a double-double threat, picking up two already this season while also having four double-digit rebound games.
Both of the Reese siblings played for the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, to start their basketball journeys. Angel has since made a name for herself at LSU before being drafted into the WNBA last season, where she finished as runner-up for the Rookie of the Year award behind the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark.
Angel Reese advises Juju Reese to be consistent in his senior season
As the older sister, Angel Reese gave advice to her younger brother about making it into the big leagues. In an IG story from Nov. 13, she wrote that consistency will be key for Juju to make it into the professional ranks.
“Consistency is [key emoji],” Reese wrote.
The post came after Juju put up his season-best 21 points in their third game. Reese’s own consistency showed in her first WNBA season, where she averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.5 blocks on 39.1% shooting across 32.5 minutes per game in 34 games to become a rookie All-Star.
However, the Sky did not reach the playoffs after only posting a 13-27 record after the regular season.
