Angel Reese was among the thousands of fans who attended popular rapper Megan Thee Stallion’s concert at the United Center in Chicago on May 19. The concert occurred just hours after Chicago Sky’s second WNBA regular-season game.
While the game was held at the College Park Center in Texas, Reese flew back to Chicago in time for the event. The 22-year-old was out on stage alongside Megan Thee Stallion, with a video of the rapper ‘twerking’ over Angel Reese making the rounds on Twitter.
Posted by the Women’s Hoops Network account, most fans were visibly impressed with Reese, as one claimed that it was impressive how she was able to do so much in 24 hours:
Others joked about the situation, claiming that the WNBA should launch an investigation.
"The WNBA is launching an investigation," one fan wrote.
Some, however, did not appreciate Reese attending the concert, as evidenced by the reactions:
One fan used the opportunity to critique the rapper’s brand of music:
"I may be wrong but I think the majority of the people that go to her concerts go just to see a hot woman twerking and not because of her music."
One fan wanted to know how long Angel Reese was on the stage:
How long was Angel on stage? 😂😂 She would out there for Glo's dance break and Meg!
Another claimed that it led to them not wanting to watch the league:
"Yeah, that makes me wanna watch the WNBA. NOT."
Finally, one fan talked about how Reese has already done so much for the WNBA, obviously in jest:
ANGEL DOES SO MUCH FOR THE LEAGUE
Hence, while most fans found humor in the situation, some were simply not impressed.
Angel Reese and Sky got their revenge against the Wings
The Chicago Sky opened their WNBA campaign with back-to-back games against the Dallas Wings. While they lost out in the first matchup, Reese & Co. got quick revenge in the second game (83-74), which saw the player herself contribute with 11 points, nine rebounds and two assists.
The Chicago Sky were without their high-profile pick from the 2024 WNBA draft, Kamilla Cardoso, who is out for 4-6 weeks due to a shoulder issue. Still, boasting a young roster with multiple potential superstars, Reese led the charge alongside Diamond DeShields, who finished with a game-high 16 points.
Reese also pulled weight on the other end of the court, something that was evident against the Wings.
She boasted a 5-7 conversion on the night, added one steal, and had just two turnovers on the night. While Reese is still getting used to the league, her arrival in itself has been impressive, especially in the way she can hold her own on the defensive end of the court.
