Angel Reese is going to participate in her first-ever WNBA All-Star weekend along with Caitlin Clark. It will be the first time in the history of the league that two rookies from the same draft class will appear in an All-Star game together.
The Chicago Sky rookie expressed her sadness as the family was not able to attend her first-ever All-Star game. She shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, expressing her lament in a couple of words and emojis.
"My mom & brother won’t able to be at my first all star," Reese wrote.
She did not reveal the reason for the absence of her family members from the big event. The Chi Barbie has taken the WNBA by storm in the past few months.
She recently broke the record for most consecutive double-doubles scored in a single season. WNBA legend Candace Parker held the record previously with 12 straight double-doubles in a season but Angel Reese surpassed it with 15 consecutive double-doubles in her game against the New York Liberty on Thursday.
She is averaging 13.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game for the Chicago Sky this season. It is an insane stat line for a rookie and makes her a front-runner in the Rookie of the Year race.
WNBA fans sympathize with Angel Reese's sad post
The WNBA fans were quick to flood the comments section of Angel Reese's post when they saw the Chicago Sky rookie's message about her family's absence. They offered their support and tried to cheer up Chi Barbie, making her realise that she was not alone and that her entire fanbase was with her.
Some fans told her that they were flying away to Phoenix just to watch and support her in her first-ever All-Star game.
"I’ll be there it’s ok."
"I'm flying myself out to support you don't worry."
"It’s ok… you’ll have all your fans there anyways. They’ll be watching you on TV," @thaofficialkat said.
While some fans made their presence felt to the Sky rookie, others tried to offer a solution to the problem.
"Is it because of the flight? It’s been a lot of delays and cancellations today!" @AyeJoceyy said.
"Omg noooooo!! Where are they?? Can we charter a bus?!" @ShugoFlex said.
"Flight em private Ik u got motion like that," @Meecheii said.
Angel Reese will be playing in the All-Star game against the USA Women's National Team at the Footprint Center in Phoenix on Saturday. The game is scheduled to tip off at 8:00 p.m. ET and will broadcast on the ABC network.
