Angel Reese is one of the most popular players in the WNBA even though she is still a rookie. The Chicago Sky forward always has someone to talk to or interact with after games. Her personality makes her one of the favorites among the veterans.

Since the start of the season, Reese has mentioned several times how appreciative she is of the support she has received from fellow players who have taken her under their wings.

In the first episode of “The Unapologetically Angel Show,” Angel Reese acknowledged those who have given her the love:

(24:30 mark)

“I got a couple [of WNBA moms]. Everybody’s always trying to claim me. My moms in no order, A’ja [Wilson], Nneka [Ogwumike], Dearica [Hamby], Napheesa [Collier], she always gives me good praise, and Jonquel [Jones] is a good one, too. I love Jonquel.
“A lot of them are always chatting with me at the free throw line. It makes me feel really loved.”

Reese referred to two-time MVP A’ja Wilson as one of her mentors. Minnesota Lynx superstar Napheesa Collier is another player who the rookie said has helped improved her game.

The new podcaster named her top five, but there are several other players who she has a good relationship with.

Reese added that her relationship with the veterans happened organically:

“They love me. I love them.”

Angel Reese admits Napheesa Collier “cooked me”

Angel Reese promised to make “The Unapologetically Angel Show” unfiltered and authentic. She delivered just that in the first episode of her podcast.

When asked about her “Welcome to the WNBA moment,” Reese responded:

(24:00 mark)

“My first game playing Napheesa [Collier], Napheesa cooked me. I’m not gonna lie. She definitely cooked me. That was my first game and I was like, ‘It’s gonna be rough.’”

The game Reese referred to was the Chicago Sky’s first preseason game this season. They went to Minnesota to take on Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx. The host team won 92-81 behind Collier’s 17 points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist in 19 minutes.

Reese had 13 points, nine rebounds, two steals and five fouls, three of which were committed guarding the MVP contender. Although she got “cooked,” the relationship between the two has blossomed.

Collier has become one of Angel Reese’s “moms,” and the Sky forward is looking forward to future workouts with the Minnesota superstar. In January, Reese will play in the “Unrivaled” league that Collier and reigning MVP Breanna Stewart founded.
