Angel Reese has become one of the biggest stars in the WNBA this year. After graduating from LSU, she was drafted to the league and made her presence known immediately for the Chicago Sky, reaching All-Star status and breaking league records in just her first season as a professional.
Despite all she achieved in 2024, Reese still has a lot left to accomplish in her career, and one personal target is wealth. The Sky forward discussed being a billionaire one day, as she let fans have a peek at all the things she wants to be in her 2024-2025 vision board.
“I am not a billionaire yet so we’re still working on that,” Reese said. “But my mind is still on billions so we’re still working on that.”
The 22-year-old has been one of the main attractions in the last WNBA season. However, it is reported that she is only earning $73,439 annually on her four-year rookie scale contract, or $343,000 total.
To make up for the low income as a basketball player, Reese has had brand deals with companies like Reebok, Wingstop, Beats by Dre, Raising Cane's, Panini America, and Xfinity.
Reese’s net worth also reportedly hit $2 million in the past year, but it was disputed by Reese herself, explaining that it was “way off,” despite being in a comfortable position financially.
“It’s not just a luxury for me,” Reese said. “It’s a luxury for everybody around me. I’m able to soon retire my mom, I can pay off my mortgage, my family, everybody’s taken care of… One thing about me, I have a really good circle around me, and I think that’s really important,” Reese said in a panel interview at ComplexCon in November.
Angel Reese says WNBA income doesn’t pay her rent
A month before disagreeing about her net worth, Angel Reese revealed that her WNBA income had not been enough to pay for her apartment in Chicago. Reese said that her rent costs about $8,000 monthly or $96,000 a year, which was a far cry from her rookie salary with the Sky.
"I just hope y'all know the WNBA don't pay my bills at all. I don't even think that pays one of my bills. Literally. I'm trying to think of my rent for where I stay at. Let me do the math real quick," Reese said in a livestream.
"I'm living beyond my means!,” she said.
Reese still has a lot of years in which to reach her dreams on and off the court. Her first season was an indication of her potential, as she averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.
