The New Year didn't welcome Angel Reese as she would have wanted. After she wore a revealing dress on New Year's Eve, social media went off against her, trolling her for breaking the image of a professional athlete, and forcing her to delete her Instagram account.

Since deleting her Instagram handle, Angel Reese addressed the mass spread of social media negativity for the first time. In a conversation with comedian/model Pretty Vee on her 'Unapologetically Angel' podcast, Reese said that people tend to put them inside a box as if a black woman couldn't do multiple things.

"People don’t understand how hard we work," Reese said. "I think it’s another thing like as a black woman like being able to top both ‘I am pretty and I play basketball I can do both. ... People putting us in a box and not even understanding, we work for a boat."
"People can't accept the fact that people can be two dimensional or three dimensional or four dimensional [or just have range]. ... And it is hard to accept the wins that you have because everybody is so about the littlest thing. It's cazy, I feel like the social media has killed so much, especially for this generation." [13:01]

Not only did the social media troll her for breaking the image of a professional athlete, but also questioned her work ethic regarding the time she put into honing her craft.

Angel Reese has been very open about wanting to do everything in her life. She has a very deep love for fashion and doesn't shy away from admitting that either. As for honing her skills, Reese has been in the gym this offseason and she will also participate in the inaugural Unrivaled season.

Vogue's cover girl Angel Reese talks "basketball and fashion"

Angel Reese graces the cover of Vogue magazine's latest winter issue with American track and field Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas. In a conversation with the magazine, Reese said that growing up she was always interested in fashion.

With her mother and grandmother having played basketball, Reese had always been exposed to the sport, but fashion had never ceased to impress her, leading her to her mother's closet so many times.

"It’s always been basketball and fashion," Reese said. "But I was a fashion girlie from young too... I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff.
"I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do... I used to watch America’s Next Top Model with Tyra [Banks] and practice my walk in the living room."

The WNBA star has had a very confident upbringing. Last year, Angel Reese told People that her mother and grandmother instilled confidence in her from a very young age, which has helped her navigate through social media negativity and focus on basketball.
