Angel Reese has steadily become one of the most popular women’s basketball players around. The Chicago Sky forward is playing her first season in the WNBA but is already one of the league’s most sought-after stars. She has become an inspiration to many aspiring hoopers across the globe.

Reese has become such a draw that it was inevitable for political questions to find their way into her interviews. On Thursday, she was asked to comment about Kamala Harris, the incumbent US Vice President, who will run for president.

The self-proclaimed “Chi Barbie” responded:

“I haven’t been able to tap a lot into the political election and everything going on. I’m not educated right now but just continue to learn and give feedback. Everybody go out there and vote! I recommend that and I just tell a lot of people out there to go out and vote 'cause we need it for this election.”

Riley Gaines Barker, a former swimming star-turned-political activist, had this to say about Reese’s answer:

“Reese admitted she wasn't educated enough to insert her personal opinion, but encouraged people to exercise their constitutional right to vote regardless.
“I respect this answer a lot. Kudos!”

Admitting she wasn’t “educated” about Kamala Harris and what she stands for was smart and bold. Reese wasn’t afraid of criticism for acknowledging she was out of her depth. The response also took away the pressure to say something she wasn’t familiar with.

Barker, who supports Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, couldn't be more appreciative of Reese's response.

The US election doesn’t happen until November, but the campaigns from both Democrats and Republicans have been intense. Harris’ camp is giving as much as it is taking against Trump and his people.

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr and superstar Steph Curry had already endorsed Kamala Harris. Angel Reese wouldn’t wade into that issue until she had been thoroughly educated about the political issues.

Fans react to Angel Reese’s response to comment about Kamala Harris

Many likely wanted to hear what Angel Reese had to say about Kamala Harris. But, she wasn’t afraid to disappoint them when she refused to say anything she wasn’t “educated about.”

Fans quickly reacted to her unexpected response:

“Regardless of who Reese is voting for she handled that perfectly. Kudos to her!”

One fan thought he figured out the message behind Angel Reese’s non-committal reply:

“Basically, she is saying vote for Trump.”

@toughtalky couldn’t be prouder of the basketball star:

“I also respect this! When someone doesn’t have an informed opinion and they’re honest about it that’s something to admire. Too many famous people just spout nonsense without any clue.”

Another fan dragged Steve Kerr into the conversation:

“Dang....smartest thing an athlete has said in a long time!!
“Steve Communist Kerr should take notes.”

Angel Reese may not have given what basketball fans wanted to hear from her, but she likely gained more followers with her response. She is showing that she is more than just an athlete playing a sport. The WNBA and the Chicago Sky will be proud of that exchange.
