Angel Reese, Lexie Hull and their Rose BC teammates in the Unrivaled met on Sunday for a workout. Before speaking to reporters for their media day, the Nola Henry-coached team had their first public scrimmage. The group claimed its readiness for the inaugural tournament that will start in mid-January.
Hull went on Instagram to share a clip of the workout and wrote:
“First Day Out”
The incoming team-up between Angel Reese and Lexie Hull is one of the most highly anticipated partnerships in the Unrivaled. Reese, a cornerstone of the Chicago Sky and Caitlin Clark’s rival, will join forces with Hull, Clark's teammate with the Indiana Fever. Despite any potential rivalry between the "Chi Barbie" and the Fever sharpshooter, any lingering tension was quickly put to rest.
During the photoshoot, Reese excitedly supported and hyped up Hull. While Hull posed for pictures, the WNBA All-Star forward could be heard in the background:
“Go, Lex!!! Okay! Okay! Okay!”
Besides Reese and Hull, Rose BC is composed of Kahleah Copper, Brittney Sykes, Azura Stevens and team captain Chelsea Gray. Many consider them a dark horse to win the inaugural Unrivaled 3x3 tournament.
Angel Reese committed early to join Unrivaled, while Lexie Hull was one of the late additions
In early July, Angel Reese announced her decision to join Unrivaled. The Chicago Sky star excitedly shared her decision to play for the tournament on different social media platforms. Co-founder Napheesa Collier called her a big addition to the league.
Throughout the 2024 WNBA season, Unrivaled staggered the announcement of players joining the league. In late October, Lexie Hull became the 29th player to join the pool. Hull was the first Indiana Fever player to commit to the league. Aliyah Boston and then Katie Lou Samuelson eventually announced their participation.
Many were interested to see who among the Fever stars would play with Reese, the only Chicago Sky player in the pool. Once the draw was completed, the Reese-Hull partnership became a highly anticipated team-up.
On Sunday, basketball fans finally got a glimpse of Rose BC having their first workout.
